Mary Amanda Hailey was born 31 Jul 1842 in Elbert Co., Georgia, USA ^{[1] [2] [3] [4]} to William Raeburn Hailey and Sarah Ann Gaines. She first married William L. Cleveland on 2 Feb 1860 ^[5] in Elbert Co., Georgia, ^[6] and they had one daughter, Sallie Frances Cleveland. ^[7] He passed away in 1870 and Mary Amanda secondly married William Richmond Johnson on 13 Oct 1870. ^[5] They had 8 children together. ^[8]

After William R. Johnson's passing, Mary Amanda moved with her son, Isaac P. Johnson, to New Mexico in 1924 and is buried in the Woodbine Cemetery in Artesia, New Mexico.) ^[9]
