Simeon was a Friend (Quaker)

Simeon Haines Birthdate: circa 1740 Birthplace: Evesham Township, NJ, USA

Simeon married Mary Stratton, daughter of Emanuel Stratton and Mary Joyce on 28 May 1766. He was reported for marrying out and disowned on 8 January 1767 at Evesham Monthly Meeting.[1]

Simeon and Mary had the following children:

  2. Mary Haines b __; Samuel Pine, son of John Pine and Rachel Burrough
  3. Simeon Haines b 4 November 1771; m Ann Coles
  4. Mahlon Haines b __; m Elizabeth Ridgway
  5. Agnes Haines b 25 October 1855; m Enoch Dudley, son of Joshua Dudley and Rachel Roberts
  6. Samuel Haines b 3 March 1777; m Priscilla Lippincott
  7. Hannah Haines b 17 January 1782; m Jeremiah Haines, son of William Haines
  8. Joel Haines b 24 April 1784; m Sarah Somers
  9. Chalkley Haines b 1785; m Gulielma Somers
  10. Edith Haines b 17 March 1793 d 20 November 1864: m John Somers, son John Somers and Rachel Willits[2]

Simeon died in November 1794. His will was dated 8 November 1794 and proved on 22 November 1794.[3]

He is assumed to have died in Evesham Township, Burlington County, New Jersey for this is where his will was made.[3]


1794, Nov. 8. Haines, Simeon, of Evesham Twsp., Burlington Co.,: will of. Wife (name not given), all lands to bring p children (not named), excepting house and blacksmith shop which are to be given to first son that marries. Witnesses-Isaiah Haines, Joshua Sharp, Job Haines. Proved Nov. 22, 1794. Lib. 33, p.450.

1794, Nov. 22. No Executor being appointed, Adm'rs to be Mary Haines and Stacy Haines. Fellowbondsman-Job Haines;all of said Co.

1794, Nov. 25. Inventory, £ 1,017.18.0; made by William Rogers and Joseph Engle. File 11545C.[3]
