  • Fact: http://familysearch.org/v1/LifeSketch Levi S. Thomas took John G. Haines as partner under the firm name of Thomas & Haines. The firm manufactured flour but the adoption of machinery in the western flour mills forced the local millers out of business and the firm became agents for a western brand. (Journal 3 Mo. 31, 1886) - Wm Zook who has just moved up to Malvern to work for Thomas & Haines was at Meeting.

After ten years of employment by this firm of Thomas & Haines, Thomas W. Fisher became a co-partner: Levi S. Thomas, John G. Haines and Thomas W. Fisher entered into a co-partnership First Day of First Month 1895 under name of Thomas Haines & Co. for the purpose of conducting the business of buying and selling of lumber, coal, Fertilizers, Flour & Feed and such other articles as may by mutually agreed upon. On Second Month 1, 1915 Levi S. Thomas withdrew and John G. Haines and Thomas W. Fisher continued under name of Thomas Haines Company. (History of Malvern, 1964, 974.813/MI. Pg 68)
