Biography

William was born in 1817 and passed away in 1885.

  • Our community was startled on Monday last to hear of the sudden death of Mr. William Haines an old and highly esteemed citizen of our town. He had been in poor health for some weeks past , but the day before his death spoke of feeling much better than usual. He had been out to feed some stock and was returning to the house when he fell at the foot of the steps. A neighbor saw him fall and ran to his aid, but life was ended by the time he got there. He was a life-long member of the Society of Friends and walked uprightly according to its teachings. He was near 70 years of age. The funeral was yesterday afternoon.
