HAINES: John Haines of Harrison Purchase, Westchester County, NY, born c1750, may have died c1780 in NY, s/o James Haines and Mary Gedney: m. (1st) c1770 Miss Pugsley d/o Gilbert Pugsley: possibly had three children: m. c1776 Sarah Haight b. before 1755 d/o Nicholas Haight of Rye, NY: widow m. (2nd) c1780 Stephen Haviland of Harrison, NY: they came to NB in 1783 as Loyalists and settled in Queens County: Children of first wife: 1
1) David Haines b. c1771, d. 1831, m. 3 Feb 1793 Anne Miller: came to NB until about 1797, then returned to Harrison, NY: 1
2) Charlotte Haines bp. 6 Oct 1773 in NY, died 5 Feb 1851: she came to NB with her grandfather Gilbert Pugsley: m. 1 Jun 1791 William Peters b. 5 May 1772 in NY, d. 4 Jan 1836, s/o Thomas Peters and Susannah Palmer: settled on Saint John River at Upper Hampstead, Queens County: they had children: 1
3) John Haines b. c1775, d. 1834, m. Margaret Ferris: settled in New York: 1
Child of second wife: 4) Hannah Haines b. before 1780, m. c1800 Oliver Brown of Harrison, NY b. c1772: settled in Westchester County, NY and had issue. 1
