Biography

Joseph Hendrickson Haines was born 7 December 1840 in Medford, Burlington County, New Jersey, USA. He is the son of Zebedee Haines and Elizabeth Hendrickson. [1][2]

As a boy, Joseph worked on his father's farm in Medford, New Jersey. He attended public schools in his township, along with the Friends' school in Weston, Pennsylvania. He continued in farming, becoming the owner of his father's farm. He was also interested in retail, setting up the firm of Joseph H. Haines & Sons, which sold coal, lumber and agricultural implements. Joseph was interested in civil matters, serving as the chairman of the Medford water company. He served as a member of the local school board and on the township committee. [3]

Marriage

Joseph married Anna Wills, daughter of Henry W. and Lydia Wills on 17 May 1877 at the Medford Monthly Meeting, New Jersey. [4]

Death

Joseph H. Haines died in 1920. He is buried at Medford Friends Meeting Cemetery, Medford, Burlington County, New Jersey, USA.[5]
