James Haynes, son of Thomas and Sophia was baptised on 26 May 1817 at Alderbury, Wiltshire, England. [1]

James married Eliza Shergold in 1838 at Alderbury, Wiltshire, England. [2] They had 2 children:

  1. James William Haines, born 1839
  2. Robert Haines, born 1841

In the England and Wales Census, 1841, James was living at Christer, Alderbury, Wiltshire, England, with his wife, Eliza, and their children: [3]

They arrived on 23rd September 1850 at Port Adelaide, South Australia. (sailed from London / Gravesend 3rd June 1850 / Plymouth 15th June 1850). [5] [6]
Note: His brothers, Thomas Haines and William Haines, and their families were also on the same ship.
