Addie's husband Merrill died rather suddenly from tuberculosis in 1914. At the time they were living in New Jersey, where "Mrs. Teague, at the time of her husband's death, was a patient in Overlook Hospital, Summit, where she had been removed but a short time previous, suffering from nervous prostration."

After Merrill’s death Addie and Mildred moved from Baltimore back to Pendleton, Indiana. Addie worked as a stenographer, and they lived with her parents Stephen and Mary Hair.

Addah Belle Teague died of liver cancer in 1920. She is buried in Grove Lawn Cemetery in Pendleton.
