Obituary: Barbara A. Hakes May 15, 1937 - Aug. 31, 2014 MISHAWAKA - Barbara A. Hakes, 77, of Brownsburg, Indiana, formerly of Mishawaka, Indiana, passed away at 8:22 pm on Sunday, August 31st, 2014, at Brownsburg Healthcare Center, Brownsburg, Indiana. She was born in Mishawaka on May 15th, 1937, to Everett and Fern (Reihl) Hakes, who preceded her in death. Barbara was Director of Training for Verison Communications Corp. until her retirement in 1991. She was a member of the American Business Women's Association, Past President of the Speedway Optimists Club and former Coordinator for training with the Community Learning Network at I.U.P.U.I. in Indianapolis. Barbara is survived by her brother, Fred (Jan) Hakes of Brownsburg, Indiana, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry Hakes and Everett Hakes Jr. Funeral services for Barbara will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday at Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 North Main Street, Mishawaka, where friends will be received from 11:00 am until the time of the services on Friday. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the American Cancer Society . The family wishes to thank the Brownsburg Healthcare Center and their staff for the loving care extended to Barbara during her illness.
