At the time of the 1841 census of England and Wales, the couple lived in Sandholme, Yorkshire, with their children Maria (aged 8), Elizabeth (6), Ann (4) and Robert (1).[3] They remained in Sandholme in 1851, living with children Elizabeth (aged 16), Robert (11), Martin (8), Mary (6) and Miles (4), and William's father, William Overend (76).[4][5]
William died in 1852[6] at the age of 51 and was buried in Eastrington.[7] After this Ann stayed in Sandholme, working as a farmer and grocer.[8][9] In 1881 she had 20 acres of land.[10][11]
