Biography

Hedley James Hale was born on 14 January 1887 at North Adelaide, South Australia. He was the son of Hedley Marcus Hale and Alice Emma Tribe.^[1]

On 20 September 1911, Hedley married Emma May Pretty at the Methodist Church, West Adelaide, South Australia. Emma was 31 and Hedley 24 years old.^[2]

Emma and Hedley had four children:

• Eric Maxwell Hale (b. 1912);^[3]
• Reginald Hedley Hale (b. 1914);^[4]
• Joan Adelene (Hale) Brooks (b. 1919);^[5][6] and
• Leslie John Hale (b. 1923).^[7]

Hedley died on 30 November 1934, at Adelaide, South Australia. He was 47 years old.^[8]

Hedley is buried with his wife, Emma, at Saint Judes Cemetery, Brighton, South Australia. ^[9]
