Biography

David was born May 18, 1877 in Comanche, Comanche County, Texas. He was the son of David Hale and Melvina M. Mcdonald.

On February 28, 1897 he married Arcno Darnell in Young County, Texas. [1]

David registered for the WWI draft on September 12, 1918 in Kent County, Texas. He listed he was born May 18, 1878, that he was a self employed farmer and that Myrtle Hale was his nearest relative. Myrtle appears to be his second wife not his daughter. His daughter was already married by this time and Myrtle is listed as his wife on the 1920 census. David is described as being tall, of medium build with gray eyes and black hair. [2]

On April 27, 1942 he registered for the WWII draft in Girard, Kent County, Texas. He listed he was born May 18, 1877 in Comanche County, Texas. His son-in-law, Henry Stiles is listed as the person who will always know his address. David is described as being 6' tall, 170 pounds with blue eyes, black hair and a light brown complexion. Physical characteristics that will aid in his description has Rupture listed. [3]

He passed away August 8, 1964 in Spur, Dickens County, Texas. [4][5][6] David was laid to rest in Spur Cemetery, Spur, Dickens County, Texas, United States. [7]

Research Notes

On the 1900 census his birth is listed as May 1877 which is also listed on his headstone and his WWII draft registration card. The WWI draft registration as May 1878 as his date of birth. He was married 3 times, first to Arcno, then Myrtle who is listed on the WWI draft registration and the 1920 census then to Cecile Richard.
