Mrs. J. R. Fair, 72, died at her home here Friday night, she had been in failing health for some time. She was one of the pioneers of this community as this had been her home for 56 years and her passing leaves a vacancy that cannot be filled. Funeral services were held at the Christian Church, Sunday afternoon at 2:30 with Rev. Dayle Schnelle in charge of the service, a mixed quartet composed of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Dunkin, Mrs. Bonnie Skaggs and Glenn Werner sang, "Rock Of Ages" "Jesus Lover Of My Soul" and "Going Down The Valley." Interment was made in the Sharon cemetery.

OBITUARY Etta Rachel Hale, youngest child of Elizabeth and T, J, Hale was born April 6, 1868 in Raleigh, Illinois, and departed this life at her home in Sharon, 2:30 a.m. May 25, 1940, at the age of 72 years, 1 month and 19 days.

At an early age she was converted and became a member of the Baptist Church in Raleigh, of which her father was pastor. After coming to Kansas she transferred her membership to the local Christian Church.

On November 25, 1883, she was united in marriage to James R. Fair to his union were born two children.

Shortly after their marriage in Raleigh, Illinois, Mr. and Mrs. Fair came to Kansas and settled near Sharon, they have made their home in this community for the past 56 years.

Mrs. Fair has been in poor health for several years but bore her suffering patiently and always had a pleasant word and cheerful smile for those who visited her.

She was devoted to her home and family and enjoyed the kindness of her friends during the many years of ill health.

She leaves to mourn her husband, James R., two daughters, Blanche Thompson and Blondell McKeever, two grand daughters, Nadine and Rachel McKeever, one sister, Mrs. J. T. Chanault, San Diego, California. Many other relatives and friends.
