The Yarmouth Herald, gives his first marriage as being to Mary Lee Scott 1 Mar 1822, but the "History of Alameda County, California" by M. W. Wood (1883, also gives his portrait) says that he first married in 1821 and his wife died in 1824. Apparently the one son they had is the one we have as dying at sea in 1843. That would be
