Biography

Catherine Halfacre, daughter of Jacob & Margaret Halfacre was born about 1783 and died April 10 1858 at the age of 75, having lived her life in Washington County, Virginia.

She married Daniel Troxel before 1808[1] and together they had 12 children.

  2. Greenberry Troxel; born about 1812; died September 10, 1889; married January 23, 1889 to Nancy Thomas
  3. Jacob Troxel
  4. John Troxel
  5. Betsy Troxel
  6. Susan Troxel

  8. Peggy Troxel
  9. Sally Troxel
  10. Ellen Troxel
  11. Winnie Troxel; born about 1832

In the 1850 US Census, she is listed in the household of her son, George Washington Troxell. She is said to be "insane" and unable to read or write.

She died on 10 April 1858[2]

Will of Catherine Troxell

The will of Catherine is recorded in the Washington County, VA Will Book volume 14 on January 12, 1858. A transcript was posted on the Facebook page of the Historical Society of Washington County VA. [3]

The will asserts that Catherine is the heir to her father Jacob Halfacre's land, and mentions the following children:

  11. George W
