Biography
According to Ættartala frá Höð in Hversu Noregr byggðist and Flateyjarbók, Buðli was a son of Halfdan the Old, and was a sea king. His forces raided alongside those of his his brother Auði, and conquered Valland and Saxland; Buðli lived in Saxland, while Auði lived in Valland. His descendants were called the Buðlungar, and were:
- Attil, father of
- Vífil, father of
- Læfi, father of
- Buðli, was the father of
- Sörli or Serli and
- Atli and
- Brynhild, mother of
- Áslaug
- Buðli, was the father of
- Læfi, father of
- Vífil, father of
Skáldskaparmál lists Buðli third of Halfdan's nine living sons, names his descendants Buðlungar, and counts Atli and Brynhild among them.
