Pauline Halford Dutton, age 73, of Summerfield, Fla., formerly of Rural Retreat, died early Tuesday, June 19, in the Malon Health Care Center in Wytheville.

She was born in Polk County, N.C., the daughter of Collins and Maude Cochran Halford and was a member of Rural Retreat United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Maurice L. Dutton; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty Jean and Bill Rogers of Gasburg; two sons and daughters-in-law, Wiley C. and Susan L. Dutton, and David C. and Jeanette M. Dutton, all of Rural Retreat; one sister, Jeanette H. Carswell of Mill Springs, N.C.; three brothers, Jonas Halford, Clyde Halford, and Ed Halford, all of Columbus, N.C.; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 21, at 2 p.m. from the Rural Retreat United Methodist Church with the Rev. Buford W. Hankins officiating. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery in Rural Retreat.

Lindsey Funeral Home in Rural Retreat is in charge of arrangements.
