Gertrude “Getty” Hall was born in Pennsylvania in 1754, a daughter of Theodore Hall and Gertrude Gordon. Her family settled in Kingwood, Hunterdon County, New Jersey in 1757, living near the east bank of the Delaware, operating a milling business on the west side. Theodore drowned when his canoe upset while crossing the Delaware during a freshet. Gertrude spent her youth in Virginia with her older brother and sister who had settled there. After her father's death, she returned to New Jersey and married Luther Opdycke (1750-1838); they had nine known children cited in the family Bible and Luther’s Will. Gertrude passed away in 1792.
Children of Luther and Gertrude Opdycke:
After Gertrude’s death, Luther married Ruth Sinclair, a widow, who died in 1835; he then married, on August 8, 1835, Mary Dalrymple. Luther died in 1838.
