This upload is not supported by much documentation. The bond for her marriage as Jane Hall to Abel Cain Slayton as Abel Slayton is filed 2 Oct 1835 in Pittsylvania Co, VA. The bondsman is William B. Hall. ^[1]

The name Nancy is derived from 1850 census ^[2] which shows Nancy as 15 years younger (20) than husband Abel (45) and ten years older than her stepdaughter Matilda (Jane) (20).

She was his second known wife, and the list below accurately reflect their issue, but it should be noted that Abel had three children by his previous wife in their 1850 census household. ^[2]

Note that Abel is presumably the "A" Slayton enumerated on the preceding page separately from the dwelling of his presumed wife and family, headed by "N" (Nancy?) in 1860 census. ^{[3] [4]} "N" is recorded as "housekeeper" aged 36 (ca. 1824) followed by what appear to be most of the children of Abel by both wives. This age reported for "N" is ten years younger than the uncited age at her memorial cited below, and still ten years older than Abel's daughter (Matilda) Jane by his first wife, according to this census. This is presumably the same woman as Nancy in 1850, despite the lack of age progression, not uncommon in census records. But these two appear to be living in separate dwelling.
