Biography

Christiana Hall was born Dec 1827 at Co. Antrim, Ireland. She was the daughter of Hercules Hall.^[1]

Christiana Hall married John McClinton on 4 Jan 1848 at Connor, County Antrim, Ireland.^[1][2] Christiana's brother Thomas Hall married John McClinton's sister Margaret McClinton around the same time.

Christiana and John had eleven known children: Josiah (1849–1849), Ann Jane (b. 1850), John Henry (b. 1852), Margret Emmeline (b. 1855), Mary (b. 1856), Charlotte Elizabeth (b. 1859), Evelina Pheodora (b. 1863), Christiana (b. 1865), Helena & Peremelia (twins b. 1869), Henrietta (b. 1872).

Christiana and John McClinton emigrated to Canada about 1850 before their daughter Ann was born.

In the 1851 Canada census, Christiana was age 24 living at Nelson, Halton County, Canada West (Ontario), Canada with her husband John McClinton (24), daughter Ann J McClinton (2).^[3][4]

In the 1861 Canada census, Christiana was age 33 living at East Flamboro, Wentworth, Canada West (Ontario), Canada with her husband John McClinton (33), son John H McClinton (9), daughters Anne J McClinton (11), Margret McClinton (7), Mary McClinton (5), Charlotte McClinton (2).^[5][6]

In the 1871 Canada census, Christiana was age 43 living at East Wawanosh, North Huron, Ontario, Canada with her husband John McClinton (43), son John H McClinton (19), daughters Anne Jane McClinton (20), Margret E McClinton (17), Mary McClinton (14), Charlotte E McClinton (11), Evolina McClinton (9), Christiana McClinton (5), Helena E McClinton (2), Permelia A McClinton (2).^[7][8]

In the 1881 Canada census, Christiana was age 58? living at East Wawanosh, Huron, Ontario, Canada with her husband John H McClinton (53), daughters Evolina McLinton (18), Christiana McLinton (15), Helena McLinton (16), Pamelia McClinton (12), Henryetta McClinton (8).^[9][10]

In the 1891 Canada census, Christiana was age 63 living at East Wawanosh, Huron, Ontario, Canada with her husband John H McClinton Sr (63), daughter Henrietta (18).^[11][12] Her son John H McClinton Jr and his family lived in the next house.

Christiana died in 1901 age 73 at East Wawanosh, Huron, Ontario, Canada^[13] and was buried at Westfield Methodist Cemetery.^[14]
