William Shakespeare HALL was born on 3 December 1825 in London and baptized at St Mary's Church of England, Lambeth, on 6 May 1827, the second son of Henry Edward Hall (1790-1859), squire of Shakerstone Manor, Leicestershire, and his wife Sarah Theodosia (1793-1858), née Branson. His parents' families both claimed connections with the poet.[1]

He was baptised on the same day as his siblings and the baptism record has his date of birth as 3/12/1825.

He immigrated to Western Australia with his parents and siblings on the Protector arriving 26/2/1830.

Occupation: Explorer,Pastoralist.

In mid 1852 he went to the Victorian Goldfields and returned to Western Australia in 1860.

From 1861-62 he was part of Francis Thomas Gregory's expedition to the north west of Western Australia.

From 1863-65 he managed John Wellard's sheep station "Andover" near Roebourne. This was the first station in the district.

He then became manager of Roebuck Bay Company (Broome) but the settlement failed and so the company moved to Roebourne and the port of Cossack.

In 2/11/1868 he married Hannah Boyd Lazenby in Cardup. One of their children was a daughter Joy Clifton.

He became a shopkeeper and then successfully operated a ship with peal divers. He also tried Pearl trading.

At the time of his death he was Chairman of Cossack Municipal Council in Roebourne. He had a heart attack in 1895[2] and drowned while swimming in Cossack Creek.

His headstone lists him as being from Shakespeare Manor Leicestershire.
