She was probably the Elizabeth Hall who married Peter Russell in Stewarton on December 14, 1850[5][6]or December 13, 1852 in Dalry, Ayrshire.[7][8] The image attached to the Dalry record shows that banns of marriage were to be read (starting from?) Dec 13, 1850, with Peter as a resident of Dalry and Elizabeth from Stewarton.[9] The marriage was likely in January or February 1851 (3 weeks of banns in Dec of 1850), as they were listed as married in the 1851 census in Dalry.[2]
Elizabeth's marriage banns did not name her parents, but her maternal grandfather, Elisabeth Armour's father, was called Hector,[citation needed] there is a Hector Hall in the family 1841 census,[1] and that she named one (or two?) children Hector all suggest this is the correct family for Elizabeth (Hall) Russell.
In 1871 Elizabeth was living at Rutherglen and her husband was working as a 'House Factor.'[10]
Elizabeth's brother John Hall, also born in Stewarton, later lived in Paisley, Renfrewshire,[citation needed] where Elizabeth and Peter Russell resided in 1881.[11] Peter was working as a Tax Collector. Children at home were Wiliam S., Mary, Margaret, Peter, and Hector H.
In the 1891 census, Elizabeth's husband was away from home, a visitor at the home of Elizabeth Scott and her children (his sister perhaps?) in Ardrossan. And there was a young grandchild visiting Elizabeth Russell in Paisley.[12]
She was probably the Elizabeth Hall or Russell who died, aged 77 years, in 1908 in Paisley.[13]
Children of Peter Russell and Elizabeth Hall include:[12]
The 1908 Paisley death record should be viewed to positively confirm the relationships of Elizabeth Hall to her husband and parents.
One issue to resolve: A brother John Hall mentioned as living in Paisley? John, the son of Rodger Hall & Elizabeth Armour, born in 1820 died in childhood. Was there another brother given the same name?

Is Elizabeth your ancestor? Please don't go away! Login to collaborate or comment, or contact
the profile manager, or ask our community of genealogists a question.
I'm looking at your proposed merge for Elizabeth Hall, and have a few questions/comments before proceeding. Have you found her death record? That should name her parents since it's going to be post-1855.
I note that the Scotland's People's death index lists an Elizabeth Hall or Russell who died in Paisley in 1908, at age 77 which calculates to a birth about 1831. So there's a good chance that is her death. (Ref: 573/1 1392)
The 1881 census enumeration, when I view it on Ancestry, it gives her birthplace as Stewarton, so again, it's a likely match:
Household Members Age Relationship
Peter Russell 52 Head, born Larbert, Stirlingshire
Elisebeth Russell 50 Wife, born Stewarton, Ayrshire
Mary Russell 23 Daughter, born Rutherglen, Lanarkshire
Margaret Russell 18 Daughter, born Rutherglen, Lanarkshire
William S Russell 11 Son, born Rutherglen, Lanarkshire
Peter Russell 9 Son, born Rutherglen, Lanarkshire
Hector H Russell 7 Son, born Kilbarchan, Renfrewshire
You commented in the 1871 census statement that her parents had lived in Rutherglen. I don't have that information. Can you tell me when that was, and what documentation to support that?
I realize now how badly Roger Hall & family need a cleanup! What a mess they're in.
No doubt about it! I've researched this family in detail, and even paid for records on Scotland's People. Her parent's details are on their profiles. (I have yet another match for her, as well as her husband and his father!)
