Biography

He murdered his wife because he was jealous of her doctor. She was trying to find out why she couldn't have a child.

Birth: unknown Death: Oct. 10, 1890 Cocke County Tennessee, USA

Burnt-Faced Bill Hall enjoyed frightening members of his family. He followed his wife to "The Seven Oaks Grave Yard" where he rocked her and tied a band tightly around her neck. "I didn't think about killing her. I was just trying to scur her and hit her with rocks for about fifteen or seventy-five minutes and then tied her apron string around her neck to scur her good." Louranie's body was found by Clay Vinson,to whom Burnt-Face Bill made the above remarks. He was sentenced to three years in prison, but was turned "loose." While a man who had stolen a horse had to "serve out" his sentance.

After her death, a doctor took her body and had it boiled in a vat and used her skeleton in his office for many years. After it was discovered, they made him bury the skeleton in this cemetery. For many years people refrained from going around this cemetery because of the ghost stories about it.

Lorraine Lambert (#47307083) furnished death date In doing some work on the Hall family I happened on this. Had Luranie "Lou" Caldwell Hall death as October 10, 1890, Cocke County, Tennessee.
