James Edward Burmont Hall died on 24 March 1883 (age 35) from injuries sustained in an accident at his sawmill. He was survived by his widow, and seven young children. His children grew up in the now defunct community of Pine, about three miles west of Ft. McCoy, and ten miles from Ocala, Marion County, Florida.[8]
Elizabeth Jane Martin Hall, a resident of Pine, Marion, Florida, submitted a Widow's Pension Claim (under the Act of 1909) dated 28 July 1909 in Marion County, Florida. She was listed as the widow of Jas E B Hall, who was enlisted under the name of J E B Hall on 28 May 1864, Company K, 1st Florida Reserves [1st Florida Infantry] Regiment.[9] J E B Hall was honorably discharged in Madison on 13 May 1865. Elizabeth's application was approved at the rate of $96 per annum (about $3,131.52 in 2023).[10]
