Biography

Samuel was born in 1811,[1] the fifth of nine children to Samuel Hall and Martha McCrary. His siblings were: James Robert Sr, Nancy, Matthew Nathan, Jane, Joel Sidney, John McCrary, Sarah Ann, Letitia, and Robert Green; his half-siblings were: Elizabeth, Solomon, and Mary.
