Family Story
Herbert was born in Scotland, however not much is known about his history. He ran away from an orphanage and stowed away on a ship to America. He didn't have any idea of his last name, so when asked at immigration he realized he was standing in a big hall, hence the name 'Hall."
The census says he is from Vermont. His father was supposedly from Ireland so maybe the story was about his father.
