Disambiguation
Not to be confused with the two other contemporary Isabella Halls, at least, each also married to a James Wight.
Yes, this couple had a daughter Jean, born 1779, Bowden
No, the above Jean, daughter of this Isabella, did not marry Peter Sinton, which Jean was indeed born Bowden, but about 1783 / 1785, her father being shown on her death cert. as a joiner).
In addition both James Wight & Isabella Hall couples had a daughter Isabel/Isabella, both dying in 1869.
This ones daughter Isabella (married to Robert SCOTT)'s death cert. shows her parents as " James WIGHT, portioner of Midlem and Isabella m.s. HALL, both deceased"[10]
The other Isabella's cert. shows her parents as "James Wight, carpenter and Isabella m.s. Hall, both deceased"[11]
Parents
Several trees assign this Isabella to William aka Baillie Hall and Cecilia Elliot who married at Oxnam in 1730.
Documented children on ScotlandsPeople range from Christian (1731) through James (1732) , Isobel (1733), Helen (1735), William (1736), Edward (1737) to Susannah (1739, Hyndhope) - which makes it seem a bit of a push to include a second Isabel in the family whose headstone shows her as 74 in 1831, so born about 1757.
DNA
Despite my conviction that my Jean Wight is not the above Jean Wight daughter of Isabella Hall, several different branches of descendants of "my" Jean do have DNA matches (over 20cMs, some triangulated, some shared but with no current segment data available) with descendants of this Isabella.
So somewhere in the tangle of ancestry that is Scottish Borders research there will be some, if not many, inter-connected families, love to hear from you if you can add information into this mystery, particularly with DNA tested descendants.
Please see the category link for some of the connections that may be via Hall.
