Ernest Charles Hall was born on about 16 April 1897, his birth being registered at Helston, Cornwall in the 2nd quarter of that year[1]. He was the fourth son of Thomas Hall and Alice Bray.
He lived with his parents and siblings in Landewednack, Cornwall, England.
In the 1911 England Census Charles Halls (aged 15) was probably recorded in the household of George Gilbert (72) and his wife Emily Gilbert (68) at Erisey Farm, Ruan Major, Cornwall. He was employed as a Cowman & General On Farm.
Ernest served in the 1st World War, with the Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry. Service Number: 17629
His brother Frank also served and died on 20 February 1917 at the age of 22.
Sadly Ernest died in Hospital on 24 December 1917 at the age of 21 and was buried at St Ruan Churchyard, Ruan Minor, Cornwall, England[2]. PLOT: Immediately right (South) of the lych gate
