Mary married Charles J Jones (~1864 - ) in ~1909. Date is estimated by the birthdate of their eldest child, Sarah (1911 - ?)
In the 1920 census Mary (age 39) was the wife of Charles J Jones in Choctaw, Oklahoma, United States. They had two daughters, Sarah and Louisa.[1]
In the 1930 census May (age 50) was the wife of Cal J Jones in Everidge, Choctaw, Oklahoma, United States. Living with them were their children Louis[a] and Andrew. Her age at first marriage is given as 20, which computes to a first marriage in 1900.[2]
On 16 October 1940, Mary was now Mary Mercks, living in Virgil, Choctaw, Oklahoma, United States, as per her son's draft card.[3]
Research Notes
- My mother told me that her grandmother was half Choctaw. I believe she meant this grandmother because of where Mary lived. - Miyako
- The Dawes rolls had an entry for a "Mary Hall" (age 21) on the Choctaw Freedmen Roll in Oklahoma in 1904. She was listed along with George Hall (age 17), and Eastman Hall (age 15). [4]
- There was a "Mary Marks" who died on 30 June 1963 in Yolo, California. Her birthplace was Oklahoma. [5]
