Jane[1][2] was born about 1749 [uncertain] in , , Northern Ireland of unknown parents.[3] She married Robert McChesney before 1785 in Ireland,[4][5] and bore him five known children, three sons and two daughters:
On 25 November 1810, when she was about sixty years old, Jane died of unknown causes, probably in Augusta County, Virginia. She may be buried in Old Providence ARP Church Cemetery, Spottswood, Augusta County.[6]

Jane Hall is the sister of Patrick and William Hall. They emigrated together from N. Ireland, along with the McChesneys. She married Robert McChesney. Her brother Patrick, married Susanna McChesney. Jane's niece Mary Ann McChesney Hall (Patrick and Susanna's daughter), married Robert McCormick, and would give birth to Cyrus McCormick, of reaper and farming equipment fame.
"In 1770 the McChesney's; James, Hugh, ROBERT, SUSAN and Martha, along with the Hall's; PATRICK, WILLIAM and JANE; and also some Patterson's immigrated to Virginia, from County Armagh, Ireland." (According to Oren F. Morton's A History of Rockbridge County, VA, page 502 and in the 1964 McChesney's of Virginia, no author listed.)

In Nov 1814, four years after Jane's death, her brother Patrick Hall, wife Susanna McChesney Hall, their son, William Hall and even her brother William Hall. William Hall, the younger, contracted it [yellow fever] in the Army, while in Norfolk, VA. The yellow fever was very contagious.

Many years ago the records for this cemetery burned in a house fire, so the records we (Old Providence cemetery committee) have were recreated as far as possible in the last 20 years (about 1996). Sadly, I can't prove this Jane lies here. I can only offer it as a possibility due to Jane living in the area and many of his family are proven to be here. Faith Bryant."
