John was born in 1888. He is the son of John Hallbeck and Mary Swenson.[1] When Anna, the wife of his brother Charles, died in 1911, their son Harry was only 16 months old. He went to live with John and Jennette. The 1920 census list him as their son.
John was a veteran of World War I. He was a private in Company D 5 Prov Trng Reg 161 D B from IL. His serial number was 4 418 878. He enlisted September 7, 1918. and was discharged February 6, 1919[2] He was discharged February 6, 1919.[3] Jeannette applied for a veteran's headstone.[4]
John died April 7, 1947 in Chicago, Cook, IL. His residence was 5490 Kenwood, Chicago. He was married and a salesman. He was buried at Mt. Hope in Chicago, IL. [5]
