Biography

Samuel was born in 1826. Samuel Hallam ... He passed away in 1875.

Samuel Hallam was born in Pennsylvania about 1825 to Moses and Amelia Moreton. He migrated with his Hallam family from Washington County, PA to Clinton County, OH sometime in the late 1830's. He married Naoma Feagins, daughter of Edward & Elizabeth Bush Feagins in Fayette County, OH Dec. 5, 1848. The 1850 census shows them living in Concord, Fayette County, OH with an 8 year old Marquis "Helm", Samuel's brother, and their first daughter, Elizabeth A. "Helm" . The family migrated to Marion & Warren Counties, IA sometime before the birth of their last child in 1855. From Iowa they moved to Cornell Village, Amity Township, Livingston County, IL where Samuel passed away Jan. 27, 1875 at 49 years old from the consumption he caught while serving with Co. K, 168th Infantry, OH National Gaurd during the Civil War. His children were: Elizabeth Almira Hallam Louderback, wife of Thomas; Almeda L. Hallam Songer, wife of Andrew J.; Edward Willis Hallam, husband of Margaret E. Ross; and Martha Jane Hallam Conner, wife of Walter D. He & Naomi also raised his much younger brother, Marquis (Marcus) DeLafayette Hallam. He is buried at the Campbell Cemetery as is his wife, daughter Almeda L. Hallam Songer and infant Songer grandchild.

He migrated with his Hallam family from Washington County Pennsylvania to Clinton County Ohio in the late 1830's. He married Naomi Feagins, daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Bush Feagins in Fayette County 12/05/1848. The 1850 census shows them living with an eight year old brother Marquis. Samuels brother, their first daughter Elizabeth A. The family migrated to Marion and Warren County Iowa sometime before the birth of their last child in 1855. From Iowa they moved to Cornell Village Amity Township Livingston Illinois where Samuel ¿passed away January 27, 1875 at the age of 49 years old from the consumption he caught while serving with Company K 168th Infantry Ohio National Guard during the civil war. His children were Elizabeth Almira Hallam (Thomas), A media L. Hallam Songer ( Andrew J), Edward Hallam ( Margaret E Ross) and Martha Jane Hallam Conner wife of Walter D. He and wife Naomi also raised his much younger brother Marquis De Lafayette Hallam. He is buried at the Campbell Cemetery as is his wife, daughter A media L Hallam Singer and an infant Singer Grandson.

Hallam-493 and Hallem-12 appear to represent the same person because: Same person. same wife. Children are a problem as some accounts have Marquis as brother others are his son. Spelling of last name is up for grabs.
