Biography

4Sharilyn Whitaker [sharilyn@northcoast.com] 22 February 2004.

"-------- "Mary Stover was born Rensselaerville, NY to William Stover (b. 23 May 1765 in Dutchess County, NY to Adam Stober and Mary Woolweaver) and *ELIZABETH* HALLENBECK born 11 February 1769, (bpt. 1670 at St. Thomas Lutheran Church, Churchtown, Columbia County, New York) to Jan Jacobse Hallenbeck and Marya Van Buskirk. In the Bible Elizabeth's date of birth is given as 11 February 1768. William and his new bride ELIZABETH HALLENBECK had been married 1 October 1789 at Albany Dutch Reformed Church. In his Bible William Stover records this date as 3 October 1789. The couple appears on the 1790 census for Rensselaerville, NY. By 1803 the family had settled in Sherburne, Chenango County, NY. Their first daughter Mary Stover's date of birth is given in her father's Bible as 27 December 1790. She was baptised in Albany DRC in 1797 under the name of Mary STORN, and that record lists her date of birth as 24 December 1790. Albany Dutch Reformed Church, Albany, Albany County, New York ; Baptism Date: - 1797 ; Father: William Storn ; Mother: Elizabeth Halenbake ; Child: Mary ; Birth Date: 24 Dec 1790 ; Part 8 Records of the Albany DRC 1789-1809, page 49 William Stover's Bible also gives the information that: "Mary Stover Williams Departed this life March 25th 1859" I hope some of this information is useful to you. The 1827 Bible of William Stover, Sr. has just been reunited with my family, and I am trying to get this precious information to as many people as I can who need it. Regards, Sharilyn Whitaker, descendant of Mary Stover William's sister Asenath Stover Probert."." --http://www.angelfire.com/ok5/vicky_winfield/RogersFamily/pafc07.htm

Hallenbeck-217 and Hallenbeck-216 appear to represent the same person because: Believe this to be the same Elizabeth, daughter of Jan and Mareytje Van Buskirk, married to William Stover.
