Biography

Martha Hallett was the oldest daughter of James Hallett and Martha Neale. She was baptised in Hilton, Dorset, England on 2 October 1828.^[1] She was enumerated with her parents and siblings in the 1841 census at Thornhill Farm in Stalbridge.^[2]

Martha married Henry Kendall, son of Christmas Kendall, at Stalbridge on 27 December 1847.^[3] Martha was 19; Henry was 30. They had four children:

• Meshack Kendall, baptised 3 May 1848, Stalbridge;
• Sarah Kendall, baptised 13 January 1850, Stalbridge;
• Anna Kendall, baptised 4 May 1851, Stalbridge; and
• Fanny Kendall, born June quarter 1857.

Martha died in Q1 1862 (age 33)^[4] and was buried in the Stalbridge Parish Churchyard on 8 March of that year.^[5][6]
