Mary was born in 1879 in Sussex. Her father was Eli Ebenezer Hallett, a "stoker".
She married Albert Hungerford in May 1898 in South London. The marriage certifciate shows her as Annie Hallett aged 18 living at the same address as Albert, 6 Cambrook Street.
They had 4 children, the 3rd of which Arthur was born on 22nd December 1901 at the Constance Road Workhouse in Camberwell where Mary Ann (aka Annie) was admitted on that day. She and son Arthur were discharged on the 10th January 1902.
In 1921 Annie was head of house at 428 Guiness Trust Buildings, Page's Walk, Bermondsey. She was an "out of work leather worker" aged 42. Also living with her were sons Arthur and Charley and daughter Beatrice.
In 1939 she was a widow living alone at 25 Whites Grounds Estate in Bermondsey. She had no occupation.
