When Bridget Haligan was born on November 20, 1869, in Kilcolman, Mayo, Ireland, her father, Francis Haliganm and was 30, and her mother, Catherine M. Prendergast, was 24. She had four sons and six daughters with John Fitzgerald between 1891 and 1909. She had four brothers and two sisters.

She was batised in Clanmorris, Mayo, Ireland. Her sister was born in September 1871 in Ireland when Bridget was 1 year old. Her brother Michael was born on April 28, 1873, in Kilcolman, Mayo, Ireland, when Bridget was 3 years old. Her brother Martin was born on October 17, 1877, in Mayo, Leitrim, Ireland, when Bridget was 7 years old. Her brother John was born on April 23, 1879, in Mayo, Leitrim, Ireland, when Bridget was 9 years old. Her brother John was born on May 3, 1879, in Kilcolman, Mayo, Ireland, when Bridget was 9 years old. Her sister Ellen (Ellie) was born in 1885 when Bridget was 16 years old. Her brother Frank was born in 1887 when Bridget was 18 years old.

Her son Michael J was born on September 17, 1891, in Mayo, Leitrim, Ireland. Her son Patrick was born in 1897. Her daughter Delia M was born on December 28, 1899, in Mayo, Leitrim, Ireland. Her daughter Delia M passed away on May 28, 1982, in Jersey City, New Jersey, at the age of 82.
