Said to be a farmer on the marriage records of his children.

There is a Peter Halligan in 1933 Tithe Book in Maynooth, Kilmore, County Armagh. Maynooth is just south of Richhill, where Sarah Anne, Constantia and Samuel lived when they got married in 1851-63. There's a Robert Halligan living in Richhill in Griffiths' Valuation.
