William Hallmark served the Republic of Texas before February 19, 1846.

William Calvert Hallmark married (1) Dicy Box m. (2) Leanah Steadham.

From Findagrave: WILLIAM CALVERT HALLMARK was born in Knox County, East Tennessee, May 20, 1804, a son of George William Hallmark and Sarah Calvert. He came to Texas in December, 1834, and rallied to the cause of liberty on April 21, 1836, when he fought at The Battle of San Jacinto. During the battle, Mr. Hallmark was a member of Captain Hayden Arnold's Nacogdoches Company, and in consideration of this service, he was awarded 640 acres of land, by the new Republic of Texas.

Mr. Hallmark first married Miss Dicy Box, daughter of Stephen Box. The couple had 6 children, Asbury, Sarah, Stephen Box, George, Kezriah and John L. Hallmark. Dicy Hallmark died December 15, 1839 and William later married Lena Steadham. Their children were, Eliza C. and Manila Hallmark.

Mr. Hallmark, a member of the Texas Veterans Association died January 26, 1880. He and his wife Lena are buried in the Bynum Cemetery southwest of Crockett,Houston County. The State of Texas erected a Star and Wreath Centennial Monument at Williams grave in 1936.
