Owen was born about 1862. He passed away about 1940.

Family stories from the family revolved around an Owen Halpin coming to America from Cork, Ireland.

After reasearching this Owen Halpin did not come from Ireland.

He married Mary Parthemore in 1891 in York County Pennsylvania. From what I can tell they had two boys Howard Owen and James Franklin. They left the two boys with Mary's parents Christian Keister Parthemore and Sarah (Bare) and took off for Niagara Falls, New, York.

While in Niagara Falls they had two more children between 1894 and 1896. Another Son William Richard Halpin and finally a daughter Margaret Halpin. Sadly Owen's wife Mary (Parthemore) Halpin passed away in 1897 in Niagara Falls, New York. We find the son Willam Richard in an orphange in New Jersey and no signs of Margaret.

Owen Halpin takes off from Niagara Falls, New York and we find him in Las Vegas, Clark, Nevada in the early 1900's just as Las Vegas was being developed.

He becomes a well know man in the communtiy and this is where he resides until his death.

It was from a recently discovered newspaper article from - The Salt Lake Tribune - 15 Apr 1940 that we finally find out when and where he died and we find out a little more about his family. The article states he has 3 sons and 1 daughter back east. The article is starting to look like we have found our Owen Halpin. Then it states he has a sister, Mrs. Smith, living in Reading, PA.

From that article we end up finding his mother Mary (Burke) Halpin from Cork, Cork County, Ireland and an unknown first name for his father Halpin. We find her headstone in St. Mary's Cemetery in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. We find two Halpin headstones in St. Mary's Cemetery. We know he has one sister Catherine (Halpin) Gleason.

We find another few articles from the death of his mother and his sister. We discover his mother remarried Timothy O'Brien from Tipperary, Ireland and they had at least 3 more daughters and a son.

More research needs to be done. Do not want to assume the two Halpin headstones belong to our Owen Halpin and his father.
