Biography

Thomas was born about 1835 in Drogheda, County Louth, Ireland to Michael and Alice Halpin. He emigrated to America somewhere before 1863. He met a beautiful Irish Catholic girl, Anna Heary, and married her in Newark, New Jersey on November 26, 1863. They had seven children. two of whom became nuns in the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth in Convent Station, Morristown, New Jersey. Thomas had a very successful hat factory in Brooklyn, New York, which burned down on January 4, 1884! He was a loving and devoted son, sending money home to his family in Ireland. His father sent him a letter after his mother, Alice, died, thanking him for the money he sent , enabling him to provide a beautiful funeral for his wife. The details of his death and burial are not known at this time.
