Disputed Origins

A previous version of this profile claimed he was baptized 6 June 1585, of Henrici Halsted was baptized in Middleton by Oldham, Lancashire, England. [1] [2]

That version of this profile attached as parents Henry Halstead and Margaret Unknown.

However, Robert Charles Anderson in the Great Migration Directory says his origins are unknown.[citation needed]

Also, if his 1620 marriage to Isabel was his first, he would have been 35 at his marriage if he was the above child baptized. That's old for a first marriage.

Therefore, we have not yet confirmed that the settler in New England was the son of Henry as baptized above; the parents have been detached until further research confirms his origins.

Biography

He arrived in Concord by 1640.

1643: February 3: Nathan Halstead of Concord, died at Dedham, Massachusetts. [3] [4]

1643: 5: 12 [February 25, 1644] Estate inventory of Nathan Halstead, late of Concord, deceased valued at L213 13s 2d. [5] [3]

Marriage

Nathan Halsted and Isabell Denton were married 24 October 1620 in Bradford, St Peter (Bradford Cathedral), Yorkshire, England. [6]

1628: March 16 A child of Nathan Halsted of Bradford unborn. [7]

1641: 15: 1 [March 1] Isabell the wife of Nathan Halstead died. [8] [3] [9]

1642 Nathan Halsted was "of Concord" when he died in Dedham.[10][11]
