Biography

Marthe Karine "Mattie" (Halvorsen) Smith was born in 1859 in Gran, Hadeland, Opplan, Norway, the daughter of Halver O Halverson (1832–1876) and Kari (Carrie) Nielsen (1830–1921). Baptism record has birthdate 13 Dec 1858, baptism 6 Feb 1859 and baptism Place: Stenene, Strand, Rogaland, Norway daughter of Halvor Halvorsen and Svanau Nielsdottir.^[1]

Mattie married Franklin Clifford Smith (1858-1923) on 24 Dec 1879 in Argyle, Lafayette, Wisconsin.^[2] Their children were:
