Sylvanus Hamblin of Barnstable and Dorcas Fish of Falmouth published their intentions of marriage in Barnstable on 23 February 1739/40.[5] They married on April 24, 1740 in Falmouth, Barnstable, Massachusetts.[6] They had five children.[7][3]

Simeon Fish Hamlin was baptised June 17, 1744 at the the West Parish Church in Barnstable.[9]
Patience Hamblin was born on October 25, 1745;[citation needed] was baptised December 25, 1748 at the the West Parish Church in Barnstable.[10]
Barnabas Hamblin was baptised April 26, 1747 at the the West Parish Church in Barnstable.[11]
Rachel Hamblin was baptised June 2, 1751 at the the West Parish Church in Barnstable.[12]
Sylvanus was deceased by 26 March 1754 when he was named in his father's will, "heirs of my son Silvanus deceased."[13][14]
