Obed Hamblin was born on October 7, 1793, in Falmouth, Barnstable County, Massachusetts, the son of Sylvanus/Silvanus and Jane (Hatch) Hamblin;[1][2][3] the birth was also recorded at Sandwich.[4] He married Mary Braley of North Adams, at Butternuts, New York,[5] by 1820, the birth year of the couple's first child; he died in April of 1851 at Rochester, Massachusetts. Mary was remarried in 1855 to Edward Burt, but by the 1860 census appears, under the Hamblin surname, in the household of daughter Abby Jane (Hamblin) Dunham.
