Russell Deon Hamblin, 48, lost his battle with cancer Aug. 5, 2000 surrounded by his family. Born Nov.26 1951 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Jesse Jones Hamblin and Betty Mott Hamblin, he married Sherry Dee Garrow on June 27, 1975 in Salt Lake. After graduating from West High School in 1970, Russell served 20 years in the armed services, first the USAF and later the US Navy, Russ also worked for the Sate of Utah. Russell is survived by his wife, Sherry, his son, Russell, his daughters, Katina Anne and Brittnay, all of Salt Lake; his mother, Betty Hamblin of Duchesne; brothers Ronald (Connie) Hamblin, Denver, CO; Rory (Linda) Hamblin, Evanston, WY; and Rayde (Gloria) Hamblin, Vernal; sister, Romanza Hamblin, SLC; and numerous nieces and nephews, who will always fondly remember him as "Uncle ET". Preceded in death by his father.
