George Onesimus Hamel was born on 28 Dec 1893 in Plainfield, Washington, Vermont, United States, son of Moses Onesimus Hamel (1853 - 1903) and Jennie Ursula (Rutter) Hamel (1861 - 1944).^[1]

He served in the 304th Motor Transport Corps during the First World War,^[2][3] and on 8 November 1919 He married Florence Rachel Bisson (1898-1963) in Plainfield Vermont.^[4] They had one son.

George died on 21 Jul 1955 in Montpelier, Washington, Vermont aged 61.He was interred in the Plainmont Cemetery in East Montpelier, Washington County, Vermont.^[5][6][7][8]
