Elizabeth Margaret Hamel was born 28 Jul 1869 in Keene, Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. She lived in a convent for many years, but did not take vows. After leaving convent, she was a housekeeper for a priest for many years before going to live with her sister. She never married.
