Biography

John Hamilton was born in 1776 in Scotland, son of James Hamilton and Agnes Campbell.^{[citation needed]}

John married Elizabeth Pollock on 28 May 1798 in the parish of Gorbals, Lanarkshire.^[1]

The couple had four children baptised in Gorbals parish:

1. Robert Hamilton (baptised 10 May 1801)^[2]
2. Elizabeth Hamilton (baptised 20 March 1803)^[3]
3. Marion Hamilton (baptised 5 May 1805)^[4]
4. John Hamilton (baptised 16 August 1807)^[5]

John died in 1851 in Midlothian, Scotland aged ~75.
