Biography

When Minnie Viola Hamilton was born on July 26, 1877, in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania [1], her father, David Hamilton , was 23, and her mother, Mary Hennings, was 19. She married DeArley Vanevery(DV) Liming on February 10, 1895, in Wetzel, West Virginia[2]. They had five children in 16 years. Minnie and her mother were Willed land by Casander Hennen in Wetzel, West Virginia, where her husband built the family home[3]. Around 1904 the Liming family sold part of their land and bought a new farm in Cadiz, Ohio. DV and Minnie's daughter, Zoe, told the tale of moving all their belongings on a sleigh wagon in the snowy hills of West Virginia to Ohio. She died January 3, 1954 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at the age of 76, and was buried in Cadiz, Ohio, Cadiz Union Cemetery[4][5]

Residences

1880 Gilmore, Greene, Pennsylvania, USA. The Liming family were sure that Minnie's last name was Hamilton, but, thought her mother was a neice of Martin Van Buren and Casander Hennen in this record, not realizing that her mother's last name was Hennings. The similarity in the surnames could have easily caused confusion. The 1880 Census is the most accurate record that explains who she is and where she came from. The census gave clues to find grandparents and her mothers death and place of burial.[6]
