Robert Lee Hamilton was born 11 Apr 1886 in Bentonville, Benton County Arkansas the son of John Quintus Hamilton and Sarah Elizabeth Hopkins.[1] In 1900 Robert is living with his parents John Q. and Sarah Elizabeth (Hopkins). Robert is 14 years old.[2] By 1910 Robert is married to Jessie May Rodden[3] and living in Jim Fork Twp. Sebastian County Arkansas with their one year old son Roy Lee Hamilton.[4] Roy Lee Hamilton passed away 13 Aug 1908 no death certificate was issued. On 29 Sep 1906 Sylvie May Hamilton was born. Sylvie May lived until 1909 and passed away. On 19 Sep 1910 Robert's second daughter, Elizabeth Hamilton was born in Midland, Arkansas. On 12 Nov 1912 Robert's third daughter Lorene Hamilton was born. In 1917 Robert registered for the WW I draft in Hartford Arkansas. He used his full name and listed his birth date as April 11, 1886. [5] Jessie May (Rodden) Hamilton passed away 29 May 1919 in Hartford, Sebastian County Arkansas. In 1920 Robert L. Hamilton was living in a home addition with his father John Q Hamilton, 63 years old and his mother Sarah Elizabeth (Hopkins) Hamilton, 52 years old.[6] Robert's two young daughters Elizabeth 9 years old and Lorene 7 years old are living with him. Robert is working as a coal miner. April 18, 1920 Robert L. Hamilton married Rose Williams in Dewar, Okmulgee County, Oklahoma[7] There is no sign of Elizabeth or Lorene, I assume they are staying with relatives, possibly still with their grandparents in Hartford. In 1930 Robert and Rose Hamilton are living with her mother May Williams, 52 years old on Water Street in Bokoshe, Leflore County Oklahoma where they now own a home. Robert is working in the Bokoshe Coal Mine as a miner.[8] Elizabeth Hamilton, 19 years old is living with her sister Lorene (Hamilton) Mason, 17 years old and her husband Hubert Franklin Mason, 23 years old in their home in Bill Johnson, Sebastian County, Arkansas.[9] Lorene and Hubert have a newborn in the home, Betty Jo Mason. In 1942 Robert L. Hamilton registered for the WW II Draft in Poteau, Leflore County, Oklahoma with no street address. He was 56 years old and living with his wife Rose (Rosie) and working for the W.P.A.[10] According to family records Robert was injured in a coal mine accident. Robert decided to become a Preacher and on November 7, 1940 he was Ordained by the Pentecostal Assemblies of Jesus Christ, Inc. at Indianapolis, Indiana and recorded in Minute Book 22.[11] Robert and Rose moved to California about 1945 and lived in Santa Barbara for a brief time before moving again to Modesto, Stanislaus County, California where he preached in the Christian faith and eventually retired. Robert was granted a Certificate of Social Insurance Award June 5, 1951[12] At the rate of a whopping $20.00 per month. They were living at 1313 Boulder Ave. Modesto, California. On 15 Sep 1964 Robert L. Hamilton passed away in Modesto, Stanislaus County, California.[13] He was survived by his wife Rose May Hamilton who passed away 26 Dec 1989 in Modesto, Stanislaus County, California.[14] Rose and Bob had no children together but she was a loving wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother to the families of Elmer and Elizabeth Bowers and Lorene and Hubert Mason.
